Ukrainian Forces Say Russian Troops Executed Captured Ukrainian Soldiers in Zaporizhzhia Region
Ukraine's Defence Forces group "South" reports that Russian troops executed Ukrainian soldiers they had earlier taken prisoner in Zaporizhzhia region. The perpetrators are believed to belong to Russia's 38th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade.

Russian troops have executed Ukrainian servicemen who had previously been taken prisoner in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region, in the country's south-east. The claim was made on 17 October by the Defence Forces group "South", a Ukrainian military grouping. Killing prisoners of war is a war crime under international law.
According to the group, the killings were probably carried out by soldiers of Russia's 38th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade. Ukrainian forces are facing this unit in the Huliaipole direction, the section of the front around the town of Huliaipole in Zaporizhzhia region.
The report does not say how many soldiers were killed, when exactly it happened or what evidence supports the claim. It also does not mention whether an investigation has been opened into the case.
