Germany allocates additional €50 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine
Germany is providing an additional €50 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine along with €10 million to NATO's CAP fund, Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul announced during a visit to Kyiv.

Germany has announced fresh financial support for Ukraine, allocating an additional €50 million for humanitarian aid and a further €10 million to NATO's Comprehensive Assistance Package (CAP) fund. The announcement came from German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, as quoted by Interfax-Ukraine and Yevropeiska Pravda.
Funds to go to UN agencies and NGOs
According to the minister, the €50 million in humanitarian aid will go to United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations supporting people in Kyiv and especially in areas near the front line. Wadephul stressed that Russia continues to attack Ukraine's energy infrastructure and is doing everything it can to once again use winter as a weapon. Germany's foreign ministry will also provide additional generators as part of this effort.
Additional contribution to NATO fund
Wadephul said Germany is once again contributing €10 million to NATO's CAP fund, which among other things supports decentralized power supply for Ukrainian troops, provides vital medical equipment for military hospitals, and funds urgently needed anti-drone systems.
Visit to Kyiv ahead of independence anniversary
The German foreign minister arrived in Kyiv on Saturday, August 22, on a solidarity visit just days before Ukraine marks the 35th anniversary of its independence. He has already held talks with his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha. The discussions covered the security situation, peace efforts, increasing pressure on Russia, strengthening air defense, security and economic cooperation, European integration, preparations for the winter period, and the issue of Russia's frozen assets.
