German Ambassador: Ukraine Receives Almost All Military Aid from Europe
German Ambassador to Ukraine Heiko Toms stated that 99% of military aid to Ukraine comes from the EU and other European countries. He also commented on Russia's attack on Kyiv Pechersk Lavra and Ukraine's technological advantage on the battlefield.
Military Aid from Europe
German Ambassador to Ukraine Heiko Toms indicated that Ukraine currently receives approximately 99% of all military aid from the European Union and other European countries. Speaking at the "Kyiv Security Forum: Deep Strike," he emphasized that Europe not only provides financial support but also delivers defense equipment and procures it for Ukraine when necessary.
Strengthening European Defense
Toms noted that European countries are significantly enhancing their defense measures. For example, Germany plans to triple its defense budget from 2022 to 2030. He also stated that the EU has already approved military aid for Ukraine worth €60 billion for 2026 and 2027. Additionally, defense industry programs, the European Defense Fund, the SAFE defense credit program, and the European Peace Fund are in operation.
Attack on Kyiv Pechersk Lavra
Separately, the diplomat commented on Russia's attack on the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a UNESCO World Heritage site. He stated that it was a deliberate attack on Ukraine's identity, sovereignty, and independence. Toms recalled visiting the monastery just days before the attack and being in the very spot that was later destroyed.
Technological Advantage on the Battlefield
The ambassador emphasized that Ukraine currently holds a technological advantage on the battlefield. He noted that Ukraine successfully holds the front line while achieving significant gains in strikes against enemy rear targets, particularly Russian logistics routes.
