Dozens of former senior diplomats from France and the United Kingdom issued a joint appeal on Saturday, urging their respective governments to cooperate in upholding international law in the Palestinian territories.

In total, 102 former diplomats signed the statement. They accuse Israel of pursuing a deliberate effort to destroy any remaining prospect of establishing a viable Palestinian state in the West Bank.

The signatories are calling on the French and British governments to coordinate their response and defend the principles of international law in the region. The report was analyzed by Matthew-Mary Caruchet, France 24's international affairs editor.

The report does not detail the specific measures the diplomats are demanding from their governments, but the appeal reflects growing concern within European diplomatic circles over developments in the West Bank.
