Over 100 tech companies sign open letter urging joint action on cyber defense
More than 100 companies, including major AI and tech firms, have signed an open letter warning that AI-powered cyberattacks will grow more widespread and calling for coordinated defensive action.
More than 100 companies spanning the AI, technology, finance and other sectors have signed an open letter calling for stronger cybersecurity measures worldwide. Signatories include Anthropic, AWS, Cisco, Cloudflare, CrowdStrike, Google, Hugging Face, Microsoft, OpenAI, Oracle and Perplexity.
Three core principles
The letter sets out three guiding principles: acknowledging that current security standards will not be sufficient going forward, equipping defenders with cyber-capable AI tools, and mobilizing a collective response. It also lists specific steps that organizations, governments, the cybersecurity and technology industry, and AI companies themselves could take to prevent a surge in AI-driven attacks.
Warning of near-term risk
Titled "A call for collective action on cyber defense," the letter warns that in the coming months, AI-enabled cyberattacks will become far more widespread and sophisticated as AI models around the world continue to grow more capable.
Among the recommendations, organizations are urged to treat cybersecurity as a top priority, while leading AI companies are called on to build observability and security tools, ensure that AI agent activity remains traceable and accountable, and share best practices for continuous monitoring.
The letter follows a similar statement released a month earlier, in which employees at AI companies urged the US government to adopt stronger regulation of the industry.
