Beekeeper Tom Grudovskis, who tends more than 300 bee colonies at the Lielvaicēni farmstead, has become a board member of the Latvian Beekeepers' Society. He shared his story with Latvian Radio.

Beekeeper Tom Grudovskis, based at the Lielvaicēni farmstead, has joined the board of the Latvian Beekeepers' Society while continuing to care for more than 300 bee colonies. He spoke about his path into beekeeping in an interview with Latvian Radio.
A painful first encounter
Tom's earliest memory of bees is one of pain. At the age of five, he leaned too close to a hive's entrance and was badly stung. Despite this, the incident did not discourage him — he went on to keep studying and learning about bees.
Continuing his father's work
Beekeeping is not a random pursuit for Tom; he is continuing work that his father began. Today he looks after bee colonies at the family farmstead in Lielvaicēni, and what started as a childhood fascination has grown into a significant part of his life.
A role in the beekeeping community
Beyond his daily work with bees, Tom Grudovskis has now also become a board member of the Latvian Beekeepers' Society, taking on a broader role in representing and developing the industry.
