Government Change to Cost Over Half a Million Euros in Severance Pay
The upcoming change of government, with Evika Siliņa (New Unity) replaced by Andris Kulbergs (United List) as Prime Minister, will require at least 509,405 euros in severance and compensation payments.

The State Chancellery has prepared a draft order to allocate funds from the state budget program “Funds for Unforeseen Circumstances” to cover severance and unused vacation compensation for Cabinet members, advisors in the Prime Minister's office and ministries, and parliamentary secretaries who will lose their positions with the formation of the new government.
The total amount needed is 509,405 euros, distributed as follows: the State Chancellery will receive 208,525 euros, the Ministry of Defence 52,262 euros, the Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development 30,084 euros, the Ministry of Culture 38,123 euros, the Ministry of Transport 35,469 euros, the Ministry of Climate and Energy 49,293 euros, the Ministry of Justice 42,726 euros, and the Ministry of Education and Science 52,923 euros.
