The Ministry of Culture is set to coordinate state policy in the field of architecture. This is provided for in the new Architecture Law bill, which the Saeima's State Administration and Local Government Committee supported on Tuesday under urgency procedure ahead of the second reading.

The Saeima is Latvia's parliament, and bills there are normally considered in several readings. The committee's use of urgency procedure means the bill is being handled on an accelerated basis.

Based on the available information, the new law defines the Ministry of Culture's role in coordinating architecture policy. Other provisions of the bill and the timeline for its adoption have not been specified.

The bill still has to go through its second reading at a Saeima plenary sitting.
