Vasermanis finishes fifth at shooting World Cup in Cairo
Latvian shooter Emils Vasermanis took fifth place in the men's 10 m air pistol event at the ISSF World Cup in Cairo. The day before, he won silver with Agate Rasmane in the mixed team event.

Latvian sport shooter Emils Vasermanis finished fifth in the men's 10-metre air pistol event at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Cairo, Egypt, on 11 October. The World Cup is a top-level international series in shooting, and the Cairo stage runs from 8 to 16 October.
Qualification and final
In qualification, Vasermanis scored 97, 97, 96, 97, 98 and 97 across six series. His total of 582 points and 22 inner tens put him eighth and secured a place in the eight-person final.
In the final he was seventh after five shots with 49.4 points, then climbed to third after ten shots with 99.9. He stayed among the top five afterwards and ended fifth with 177.6 points after 18 shots.
Latvia's other shooter, Lauris Strautmanis, scored 576 points in qualification (94, 96, 99, 95, 95, 97) with 23 inner tens. He placed 25th among 64 competitors.
Medallists
India's Udhayveer Sidhu won with 240.6 points. Germany's Christian Reitz took silver with 240.1, and Italy's Paolo Monna won bronze with 219.8.
The previous day
On 10 October, Vasermanis and Agate Rasmane won silver in the mixed team 10 m air pistol event. The Latvian pair posted the best qualification result but lost the gold-medal match to a French team by 0.5 points.
