Kaspars Vecvagars, 32, will no longer serve as the head coach of Valmiera's men's basketball team. He joined the club in 2023 immediately after ending his playing career, initially working as an assistant coach before taking the helm last year.

The club expressed gratitude on social media for his three seasons, highlighting his energy, professionalism, and demanding nature, which left a mark on the club's history.

During his playing career, Vecvagars represented Lithuanian teams LSU-Atletas, Lietkabelis, and Kaunas Žalgiris; in Latvia he played for VEF Rīga and Jūrmala; spent one season with Polish club Wilki Morskie Szczecin; and played for Spanish clubs Palencia, Forca Lleida, and Basquet Girona, as well as Dutch team Heroes Den Bosch.

In his new role, Vecvagars will coach Žalgiris' reserve team, which competes in the Lithuanian second division and the Youth Euroleague. He replaces Rokas Kondratavičius, who this summer became the head coach of Rīgas Zeļļi.
