Wales' darts duo of Jonny Clayton and Nick Kenny continued their impressive run at the World Cup of Darts in Frankfurt, Germany. After Gerwyn Price withdrew, the new Welsh pairing opened their campaign with a 4-1 win over Lithuania and followed up on Friday with another 4-1 victory against Thailand. Topping Group C, they will face the USA in the second round on Saturday afternoon.
Hosts Germany also impressed, beating New Zealand 4-2. Martin Schindler and Ricardo Pietreczko secured their place in the second round, where they will play the Czech Republic.
The Republic of Ireland's William O'Connor and Mickey Mansell clinched top spot in Group D by defeating Gibraltar 4-2, earning a tie against Poland in the next round.
The top-ranked nations—including England, the Netherlands, Northern Ireland, and Scotland—enter the tournament in the second round. England's Luke Littler and Luke Humphries, the top seeds, face Spain, while defending champions Northern Ireland's Josh Rock and Daryl Gurney begin their title defense against Belgium. Scotland's Gary Anderson and Cameron Menzies meet Norway, and the Netherlands' Michael van Gerwen and Gian van Veen take on Sweden. France versus Latvia completes the second-round fixtures.
