Wales and Republic of Ireland advance at World Cup of Darts

Wales' darts pairing of Jonny Clayton and Nick Kenny continued their impressive run at the World Cup of Darts in Frankfurt, Germany. After Gerwyn Price's withdrawal, the new duo started their campaign with a 4-1 thrashing of Lithuania, and followed up on Friday with another 4-1 victory over Thailand. The Welsh pair topped Group C, earning a Saturday afternoon tie against the USA at the Eissporthalle.
Hosts Germany also impressed, beating New Zealand 4-2. Martin Schindler and Ricardo Pietreczko secured their spot in the second round, where they will face the Czech Republic.
Republic of Ireland's William O'Connor and Mickey Mansell clinched top spot in Group D by defeating Gibraltar's duo 4-2, setting up a meeting with Poland.
The top-ranked nations, including England, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, and Scotland, enter the tournament in the second round. England's Luke Littler and Luke Humphries, the top seeds, will play Spain. Defending champions Northern Ireland, represented by Josh Rock and Daryl Gurney, begin their title defense against Belgium.
Scotland's Gary Anderson and Cameron Menzies face Norway, while Netherlands' Michael van Gerwen and Gian van Veen take on Sweden. The second-round fixtures conclude with France versus Latvia.
