History enthusiast's discovered photos shed light on WWII first days in Liepāja
An exhibition at the Liepāja Occupation Museum, open until the end of the year, reveals the first war damages during World War II. The exhibition was created with the help of history enthusiast Ivars Ķupis, who searches for and buys old photographs, noting that they sometimes contradict previously told narratives.

The Liepāja Occupation Museum is hosting a photo exhibition titled "The First Damages of World War II in Liepāja. June 22–29, 1941," which will be on display until the end of the year. The exhibition features unique testimonies of the initial destruction caused by the war in the city.
A key contributor to the exhibition is history enthusiast Ivars Ķupis, who actively searches for and purchases old photographs at auctions. He emphasizes that images often challenge and sometimes overturn the truths that have been told before. This exhibition serves as evidence of how photographs can provide a new perspective on historical events.
