In Vidzeme, 43 Fined for Speeding Last Day; Several Traffic Accidents Recorded

State Police in Vidzeme region recorded 81 incidents last day, issued 73 administrative decisions, including 43 for speeding. Seven traffic accidents were reported, including a collision with a train and hitting a pedestrian.

During the past 24 hours, the Vidzeme Regional Administration of the State Police registered 81 incidents where residents sought assistance or possible criminal offenses were detected. Seven traffic accidents occurred, two of which resulted in injuries to two people.

In the area of traffic supervision, 73 administrative penalty decisions were made, 43 of them for exceeding the permitted speed limit, informed Zane Vaskāne, senior specialist of the Public Relations Department of the State Police.

Collision with a Narrow-Gauge Train

On June 30 at 8:19 PM in Anna Parish, Alūksne Municipality, at the “Umērnieki 2” railway crossing, a man driving an Audi failed to stop at a “Stop” sign and collided with the locomotive of the narrow-gauge train “Bānītis.” No one was injured, and traffic was not blocked. A traffic accident protocol was filed.

Pedestrian Hit in Madona

On June 30 at 9:56 AM in Madona, at the intersection of Raiņa Street and Valdemāra Boulevard, a man driving a Toyota hit a pedestrian. The injured pedestrian was taken to a medical facility.

Motorcycle Overturn in Zaube Parish

On the same day at 2:29 PM in Zaube Parish, Cēsis Municipality, a Triumph Street Triple motorcycle overturned. The rider was injured and transported to a hospital. A traffic accident registration protocol was completed.

Forklift Driver Under Influence

On June 30 at 10:15 AM in Bilskas Parish, Smiltene Municipality, a man was driving a forklift while under the influence of alcohol, with a minimum alcohol concentration of 1.55 per mille in exhaled air. An administrative process has been initiated for this violation.
