On Monday, police received 48 fraud reports, eight of which resulted in damages totaling €122,021. Among the victims is an 82-year-old man who lost nearly €19,000.

The Estonian Police and Border Guard Board announced that on Monday it received 48 reports of fraud. In eight of these cases, victims suffered financial losses totaling €122,021.
One victim, an 82-year-old man, was deceived by callers posing as police officers. They claimed that cash stored at home needed to be declared. The man let a stranger into his apartment and handed over approximately €19,000.
In another case, a resident of Tallinn was told that a data breach had exposed his bank account, risking all his funds. Following the fraudsters' instructions, the victim began withdrawing cash and handing it over, losing a total of €10,000.
Police remind citizens to be cautious and not trust unknown individuals who request money or personal data. Fraudsters often use social engineering techniques to lull victims into a false sense of security.
