Corgis take over Vilnius park for quirky annual race day
About 150 corgis from nine countries gathered in Vilnius for the fifth annual Corgi Race, with US-owned dog "GG" winning the main event.

Vilnius' Vingis Park turned into a corgi playground on Saturday, as roughly 150 short-legged dogs from nine countries gathered for the fifth edition of the Corgi Race. Thousands of spectators came out to watch the day's events.
The dogs competed across seven categories, including solo sprint races, an agility course, a contest for the loudest bark, a run-and-return challenge, and a costume parade. The gathering brought together corgi owners and fans from across Europe and beyond, highlighting the close bond between the dogs and their people.
American winner
The main race title went to a corgi named "GG," whose owners had travelled from the United States to take part. Owner Dustin Embrey said the city's welcoming attitude toward dogs was such that he and his family would consider coming back to Vilnius even without the competition drawing them there.
