Voge DS900X – A Chinese Motorcycle with a BMW Engine: Is It Worth Buying in 2026?
The Voge DS900X is a Chinese-made touring motorcycle equipped with a BMW-developed 895 cc engine also used in the BMW F850. Priced at 9,490 euros in Latvia, it offers abundant features, but has some drawbacks in throttle response and build quality of controls.
Chinese motorcycles are increasingly appearing on the European market, and the Voge DS900X is a notable example, featuring a BMW-derived engine produced by Loncin – the same unit found in BMW F850 models. In Latvia, the official dealer MotoMania sells it for 9,490 euros. For this price, buyers get an 895 cc engine with 95 hp, a six-speed gearbox with quickshifter, adjustable KYB suspension, Brembo brakes, heated grips and seat, keyless ignition, cruise control, tire pressure monitoring, and a 7-inch TFT display.
Riding impressions are mixed. The soft, comfortable suspension excels on rough roads, and the adjustable windscreen at its highest setting provides excellent wind protection even at 160 km/h. However, the throttle response below 3,000 rpm is jerky and unrefined, which is particularly annoying in city traffic. Sport mode does not improve it; the Road mode is best, requiring higher revs. Hard braking causes the suspension to dive, reducing feel, and cornering feels delayed.
On gravel roads, the motorcycle is stable and comfortable in Road mode. However, Enduro mode disables ABS and traction control, making the bike hard to control due to the abrupt throttle and tendency to slide unpredictably.
Features include blind-spot indicators in the mirrors, a built-in dashcam, and keyless access. However, the cruise control switchgear feels cheap and unintuitive, and the tire temperature sensor gave an implausible reading of +35°C on a rainy morning. Overall build quality is good, except for the handlebar switches, which lack precision.
In summary, the Voge DS900X is a capable touring motorcycle with generous equipment at a competitive price, especially for buyers not concerned about brand cachet. However, it lacks the engineering polish of Japanese or European rivals. Whether to buy it depends on individual priorities and expectations.
