Volkswagen ID.Buzz Gets 'Gute Nacht' Package for Overnight Stays
Volkswagen offers a €2,600 'Gute Nacht' equipment package for the ID.Buzz, featuring a foldable mattress, window blinds, a sleep mode to maintain temperature for up to 48 hours, and additional camping accessories.

Volkswagen has developed a solution that allows the electric ID.Buzz to be used for overnight stays. The 'Gute Nacht' (Good Night) package costs €2,600 and includes several components to create a comfortable sleeping space.
The main element is a foldable mattress that forms a sleeping area measuring 2.00 by 1.20 meters, enough for two people, though space is limited. For privacy and light protection, the package includes a window darkening set and ventilation grilles for the front windows.
A software update introduces a special 'Sleep' mode that maintains the chosen interior temperature for up to 48 hours, regardless of outside weather conditions—whether hot or cold.
The package goes beyond just sleeping: it includes a folding table and two chairs for use outside the vehicle. In the trunk, a Multiflexboard structure resembling a small bench with two foldable boxes underneath can be installed. Additionally, two storage bags help organize belongings.
A practical feature is the ability to use the vehicle's charging port as a 230-volt outlet via a special adapter, allowing operation of appliances such as an electric stove or coffee maker.
While the new equipment set does not turn the ID.Buzz into a full-fledged camper, it offers an interesting compromise between an everyday electric car and a travel vehicle suitable for sleeping.
