Latvia's State Social Insurance Agency (VSAA) has announced that its electronic services on the government portal Latvija.gov.lv will be temporarily unavailable in the coming days due to technical infrastructure upgrades.

Timing of the outage

The e-services will be down from 3:00 p.m. on August 28 through the end of September 1. During this window, VSAA specialists will migrate the Social Insurance Information System, along with other agency systems and the data they hold, to more modern server infrastructure.

Advice for residents

The agency is urging people who need its services to submit requests in advance of the shutdown, or to plan them for after September 2, when full service availability is expected to resume.

In-person services continue

While the online systems will be offline, VSAA's customer service centers, phone lines and email will operate as usual on August 31 and September 1. During those two days, residents can receive general information and submit documents either in person or electronically, provided the documents carry a secure electronic signature.

However, the agency cautions that some actions requiring direct access to data stored in VSAA's information systems may not be possible during the migration. VSAA says it will announce when e-services and other functions are fully restored once the work is complete.
