Xfinity introduces same-day Wi-Fi for new customers
Comcast Xfinity now allows new customers to receive a Gateway router on the same day they sign up, providing quick internet access.

Comcast Xfinity has started offering same-day Wi-Fi for new customers, eliminating the need to wait a day or two. New users can receive one of the company's Gateway modem/router hybrid units on the very day they sign up for service. Delivery often occurs within hours, and Xfinity also offers in-store pickup.
However, there are some caveats. As noted, this is only for new customers. Additionally, hardware delivery is currently available in only 20 U.S. markets, though Comcast says it will expand significantly in early 2027. Same-day delivery is likely not yet available where you live, but the in-store pickup option should be. Comcast says over 700 Xfinity stores nationwide are involved in the promotion.
New customers will be able to get online immediately, even without the modem. Xfinity is providing immediate access to its massive network of Wi-Fi hotspots. While not particularly fast, they are handy in a pinch. Same-day delivery is live in markets like Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Philadelphia, and San Francisco. Customers do have to install the device and activate service on their own via the Xfinity app.
