Zelenskyy: EU decision to open cluster is significant support for Ukraine

Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked all those who fight for Ukraine, work for the state, and help protect its national interests. He also expressed gratitude to all EU partners and each leader personally for this strong step for Europe.

“Ukraine defends itself and thereby all of Europe – the idea that European nations can live united, free, and in peace,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

“As we said, Ukraine does what is necessary, and it is important that the EU also keeps its word. The opening of the first cluster is significant political and moral support for our state and people,” the president stated.

He added that everything has been done to open subsequent clusters as well. “We also congratulate Moldova on this step, which we are taking together,” Zelenskyy noted separately.

On Friday, the EU officially confirmed the start of accession negotiations with Ukraine. Prior to this, Ukraine fulfilled the last requirement from Hungary to open the cluster of accession talks.
