At the G7 summit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed that U.S. President Donald Trump has shown a positive attitude toward granting missile licenses to Ukraine. This could pave the way for new supplies, but Zelenskyy stressed that Europe must seek cheaper solutions for its own defense.

According to Zelenskyy, Washington's interceptor lines are stretched, creating a need for alternative solutions. He called on European countries to invest more actively in developing their own air defense systems to reduce dependence on the U.S. and lower costs.

This stance comes as Ukraine continues to defend itself against Russian aggression and regularly faces missile and drone attacks. Western support remains crucial, but existing systems are expensive and limited. Zelenskyy noted that Europe must become more independent in defense matters to ensure long-term regional stability.

Detailed information about the talks and possible license terms is not yet disclosed, but Zelenskyy's statement indicates progress in dialogue with the U.S. administration. Meanwhile, European leaders are urged to accelerate joint projects to produce cheaper and more effective air defense systems.
