Zelensky ready to meet Putin at G20 summit in Miami

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told German broadcaster DW that he is prepared to travel to the G20 leaders' summit scheduled for December in Miami in order to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin, on condition that Putin also takes part.

Asked whether he was ready to attend such a meeting, Zelensky answered affirmatively, stressing that both sides need to show up, meet, talk and make decisions.

Outcome matters more than words

The Ukrainian president emphasized that in a potential conversation with Putin, what matters to him is not what he himself says to the Russian leader or what Putin might want to say to him, but rather the outcome of the talks. According to Zelensky, the result is what counts above all.

Zelensky had previously said he expects to meet with a delegation from the United States at the end of September, during which Ukraine plans to raise issues concerning energy and food security.
