Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he has a feeling that Russia is serious about a meeting of negotiating groups in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, following a conversation between European leaders and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting is part of efforts to find a settlement to Russia's war against Ukraine.

Zelensky spoke during a meeting with journalists. His remarks were reported by the outlet European Pravda, citing Ukraine's state news agency Ukrinform. The outlet Ukrainska Pravda was not invited to the meeting.

Preparation in Oslo

The president said a briefing was held in Oslo on the planned trilateral meeting of negotiating groups in Abu Dhabi in November. According to him, partners wanted to discuss the topic first with him and then with the Russian leader.

"We went over the subject. In principle, we had a briefing in Oslo on the upcoming planned trilateral meeting of negotiating groups in November in Abu Dhabi," Zelensky said.

The call with Putin

Zelensky noted that on the morning of 27 October, the partners spoke with the Russian leader. They presented an agreed common position and listened to his vision.

The source gives no further details on what exactly Putin said, who will take part in the Abu Dhabi meeting, or on what date in November it may take place.
