Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has laid out the country's key expectations and priorities ahead of the NATO summit in Ankara. In a social media post, he indicated that Ukraine expects the summit to deliver decisions that will strengthen air defense and expand defense capabilities.

Zelenskyy emphasized that he anticipates a "strong and resultative" NATO summit. In his view, solutions are needed that would provide greater protection for Ukraine's people, more opportunities for defense, and closer security cooperation between Ukraine, Europe and America.

The president said he plans to hold nearly two dozen bilateral meetings with leaders, as well as attend the NATO Defense Industries Forum. On the sidelines of the summit, new "Drone Deals" and other agreements with partners are expected to be concluded.

The strengthening of air defense remains the key priority. "New systems, missiles for them, licensing issues for production – all of this is our priority. We are grateful to everyone who helps Ukraine with real steps," Zelenskyy added.

Zelenskyy arrived in Ankara on Tuesday. Earlier, media reported that his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump is expected on Wednesday, July 8.

According to unofficial information, the summit's final declaration will include the thesis that Russia poses a threat to Euro-Atlantic security, as well as a commitment by NATO member states to provide Ukraine with 70 billion euros in military support annually in 2026-2027.
