Zelensky: There Is a Major Risk of an Attack on European Countries

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, speaking to journalists after a meeting with US President Donald Trump, said he believes there is a major risk that Russia could attack other European countries.

According to Zelensky, it is important for Russian President Vladimir Putin to show the Russian public certain results from the war. Zelensky noted that Putin is afraid only of his own people, pointing out that Russia is losing roughly 33,000 to 35,000 people per month fighting on foreign territory, making it difficult to explain the absence of victories.

Breaking Unity

Zelensky said this is precisely why Putin wants to break the unity among European countries, as well as between Europe and the United States, in order to reduce support for Ukraine and increase pressure. He suggested that to achieve this, Russia could attack another country, which would raise fears in Europe of drone attacks against Moldova and Romania, as well as possible incidents near the Polish border or at German airports.

The Ukrainian president warned that Putin will continue such actions going forward, meaning the risk of attacks — whether by drones, missiles, or even ground forces — is very high, particularly for countries bordering Russia or Belarus. Zelensky called on these countries to respond to the threat, stressing that if Russia is not met with resistance, it will keep advancing further.

Zelensky made the remarks at a press conference following talks with Trump, during which he also expressed willingness to meet with Putin, adding that the US leader could help arrange a trilateral meeting.
