Zelensky: Ukraine's army is effectively the second strongest in NATO
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine's military, hardened by war, now ranks as the second most powerful in NATO, urging allies to recognize this reality.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told journalists that NATO needs Ukraine, adding that all NATO leaders already acknowledge this fact. He emphasized that by defending against the Russian invasion, Ukraine's army has proven to be more than a match for Russian armed forces, which were considered the second strongest in the world before the war.
Zelensky noted that one of Moscow's declared war goals is to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO. He also expressed the view that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin will remain in the Kremlin until his death, striving to restore the Soviet Union that collapsed in 1991. "Without Ukraine, it is impossible, and that is why it is so hard for us, dear Ukrainians," he added.
