On Sunday, June 14, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone call with US President Donald Trump, according to Ukrainian presidential communications advisor Dmytro Lytvyn.
Lytvyn described the conversation as "quite substantive," touching on topics from birthday greetings to diplomacy, war, and peace. The call lasted between 30 and 35 minutes, possibly slightly longer.
Trump celebrated his 80th birthday on Sunday. This is the first known direct communication between the two leaders in recent times, occurring as Russia's war against Ukraine continues for over three years.
