Zeltiņa Reaches Most Important Final of Her Career

Latvian tennis player Beatrise Zeltiņa has reached the final of a W35 clay tournament in Italy, defeating Luciana Peres in the semifinals. This is the most significant final of her career.

19-year-old Latvian tennis player Beatrise Zeltiņa (WTA 529) advanced to the final of a W35 clay tournament in Italy on Saturday, overcoming Peru's Luciana Peres (372) 6:3, 2:6, 6:2 in the semifinals. Peres was the third seed in the event. This will be Zeltiņa's most important final to date – she had previously only played in W15 finals, with a 1-2 record.

Zeltiņa outperformed her opponent in first serve percentage (88% to 65%), break points converted (3/8 vs 2/10), and total points won (89:83). The ace and double fault counts were 1-2 and 1-1, respectively. The match lasted 2 hours and 21 minutes.

In Sunday's final, Zeltiņa will face 33-year-old Brazilian Gabriela Sē (338), who has a career-high ranking of 221. The runner-up will earn approximately $2,107 and 23 ranking points, while the champion will receive $3,935 and 25 points.
