Structural engineer and construction supervisor testify in Zolitūde criminal case
At the regional court, which is hearing the Zolitūde tragedy criminal case for a second time, building engineer Ivars Sergets and construction supervisor Mārtiņš Draudiņš gave testimony on Wednesday. Hearing the defendants' statements is due to be completed in a week.

The criminal case over the Zolitūde tragedy continued at a Latvian regional court on Wednesday, 14 October. The court is examining the case for the second time. Two defendants gave testimony at the hearing: building engineer Ivars Sergets and construction supervisor Mārtiņš Draudiņš.
Sergets is a person who has previously been found guilty. Draudiņš is a defendant in the case in his capacity as construction supervisor. The court heard both men's statements during the same session.
The process is not finished
The court did not manage to finish hearing the defendants' testimony on Wednesday. It plans to complete this stage in a week, so the examination of the case will go on at the next session.
The prosecution's position
The prosecutor's office still maintains that everyone who is currently in the dock should be held liable. In total, there are five people. The prosecution has not changed this view, even though the regional court is reviewing the case anew.
At this stage only two defendants' statements have been heard. The remaining testimony and the court's final decision are still ahead, and the source gives no further details about them.
