Swedish farm to get Europe's largest milking carousel
Swedish manufacturer DeLaval will deliver Europe's largest rotary milking system to Marås Farm, which keeps 1,600 dairy cows. The system is due to start operating in April 2027.

DeLaval, a Swedish maker of dairy and farming equipment, is preparing to deliver what it describes as the largest rotary milking system in Europe. The buyer is also Swedish: Marås Farm, which keeps 1,600 dairy cows and currently produces about 64 tonnes of milk a day. The company announced the deal in early September on its Facebook page.
DeLaval is headquartered in Tumba in Stockholm County. It makes machinery, equipment and systems for milk production and agriculture. According to the company, a contract with Marås Farm has been signed.
About the farm and the system
Marås Farm is located in the village of Vikingstad, in Linköping Municipality, Östergötland Province. The new carousel milking system will have 120 milking stalls. DeLaval says it will be the largest rotary milking system in Europe.
The model is the DeLaval E500, and it is scheduled to go into operation in April 2027.
Why the farm is investing
The company says efficiency matters at this scale. The new system will support the farm's day-to-day operations while leaving room for growth in the coming years. DeLaval has promised to report regularly on the progress of the project.
