Fire breaks out in hangar in Ainaži Parish; multiple fire brigades involved

On Saturday, a fire broke out in a hangar in Ainaži Parish, Limbaži Municipality, with local fire departments assisting in extinguishing the blaze.

On Saturday, June 21, 2026, at 14:30, the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) received a call about a fire in a hangar in Ainaži Parish, Limbaži Municipality.

Upon arrival, firefighters found that flames had engulfed a room with a built-in balcony covering an area of 70 square meters, an exterior wall of 140 square meters, and a roof of 80 square meters. The total area of the hangar is 1,300 square meters.

In addition to VUGD, firefighters from Ainaži, Staicele, and Korģene fire departments participated in the extinguishing efforts. Thanks to their work, the rest of the building and the tractor equipment inside were saved. The operation at the scene concluded at 16:25.

VUGD also released statistics for the past 24 hours (from Saturday 06:30 to Sunday 06:30): a total of 61 calls were received, of which 19 were for fires, 27 for rescue operations, and 15 were false alarms. Other incidents included extinguishing a burning freezer, a waste container, a barn wall, a power pole, construction debris, food left unattended on a stove, four cases of car fires, and six cases of burning waste.
