White House says Trump won't block Tate brothers' extradition to UK

The White House on Thursday made clear that President Donald Trump will not stop the extradition of influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan to the United Kingdom, where they face charges of sexual offenses. When asked during a press briefing whether Trump or the administration intended to intervene in the extradition process, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt answered with a simple "No." Secretary of State Marco Rubio also stated that the administration would not play any role in the case.
Andrew Tate, who has described himself as a misogynist, and his brother Tristan were detained by U.S. authorities in Miami on Saturday. Their lawyer characterized the arrest as "politically motivated." The brothers are contesting their extradition. They appeared in a U.S. federal court on Monday wearing jail uniforms and handcuffs.
Court documents unsealed on Monday detailed allegations from three women. One woman accuses Tristan Tate of rape and assault during a long-term relationship that began in 2012, including alleged assaults while she was unconscious. Two other women accuse Andrew Tate of rape and assault in incidents dating from 2014 and 2015, which occurred after they met him through a webcam business and a dating app.
The Tate brothers, who have publicly supported Trump, are prominent figures in the online "manosphere" - a network of influencers often associated with hyper-masculine content that helped mobilize some young male voters during the 2024 U.S. presidential election. A judge has scheduled a further hearing for July 27, at which a district judge will determine whether the legal conditions for extradition have been met.
