Bauska municipality is inviting residents training to become family doctors to apply for a municipal scholarship by September 20. Recipients must commit to working as a family doctor in the municipality for five years after finishing their studies, or register on the national waiting list for primary care providers.

The Bauska municipal government has opened applications for a scholarship aimed at medical residents pursuing family medicine, also known as general practice, as their primary specialty. The announcement was made by Laura Almane, project manager at the Sports and Health Department, via the municipality's website.
The scholarship is available to residents enrolled in an accredited medical residency program. After completing their studies, recipients must either work as a family doctor within Bauska municipality for five years or register on the National Health Service's waiting list for primary healthcare providers.
Required documents
Applicants must submit a form stating their name, the specialty being obtained, the name of the residency program, and the educational institution and faculty, including address, country, and phone numbers. This must be accompanied by a certificate from the institution confirming enrollment, specialty, and the residency's start and end dates, as well as a transcript of grades from the most recently completed academic year.
Submission process and deadline
Documents can be submitted in person at the Bauska Municipal Administration's Client Service Centre at Uzvaras iela 1, Bauska, or sent electronically as a signed document to the municipality's email address. The application deadline is September 20 of this year.
Scholarship amount
The scholarship equals one nationally set minimum monthly wage, from which mandatory taxes are withheld under applicable regulations. It is paid for 11 months per year throughout the residency period. The municipality allocates funding for the scholarship in its annual budget and sets a maximum number of recipients for each year.
Submitted applications are reviewed by a scholarship committee, while the final decision on awarding the scholarship rests with the Bauska municipal council.
