The second round of matches in Group C of the World Cup took place on Friday, with Brazil cruising to a 3-0 victory over Haiti and Morocco edging Scotland 1-0.

In the Brazil vs. Haiti match, all three goals came in the first half. Matheus Cunha opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, pouncing on a rebound from Haiti goalkeeper Johnny Placide. He scored again in the 36th minute, this time after a pass from Vinícius Júnior. In first-half stoppage time, Vinícius Júnior ran onto a through ball from Lucas Paquetá and slotted past Placide to make it 3-0.

In the Morocco vs. Scotland game, the only goal arrived in the very first minute. Ismael Saibari capitalized on a defensive error by Scotland, finishing a pass from Brahim Díaz. It was Saibari's second goal of the tournament.

After two matches, Brazil and Morocco lead Group C with four points each, Scotland has three points, and Haiti is yet to earn a point. This is the first World Cup to feature 48 teams, hosted across Mexico, the United States, and Canada. The teams are divided into 12 groups of four. The top two teams from each group, along with the eight best third-placed teams, will advance to the knockout stage.

The group stage concludes on June 27, with the knockout rounds beginning on June 28. The semifinals are scheduled for July 14 and 15, the third-place match on July 18, and the final on July 19. In the previous World Cup in 2022, held in Qatar, Argentina defeated France in a penalty shootout to claim the title.
