Brewers win World Series for the first time in club history
The Brewers baseball team beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in the championship series, winning their first MLB title in 57 years of club history. William Contreras was named series MVP.

The Brewers have won the World Series for the first time in their history. The World Series is the championship series that closes the season in Major League Baseball (MLB), the top professional baseball league in the United States and Canada. In the fifth game, the Brewers won on the road 4:1 against the Tampa Bay Rays, and took the series 4-1. It is the first title for a club whose history spans 57 years.
Series MVP
Brewers player William Contreras was named the most valuable player (MVP) of the championship series.
Two first-time finalists
The World Series brings together the best teams from MLB's two leagues: the American League (AL) and the National League (NL). This season those teams were the Rays and the Brewers respectively. This year's final was the first since 1980 to feature two teams that had never previously won the World Series. That meant that a new champion was guaranteed before the series even began, and one of the two clubs would finally collect its first title.
The record holders in the World Series are the New York Yankees, who have won the championship 27 times. By comparison, the Brewers now have a single title, but it is the first the club has claimed after more than five decades in the league.
