Multiple drunk drivers and cyclists caught in Latvia
At the start of July, several motorists and cyclists were detained for drunk driving in Latvia. Some cases led to criminal proceedings.

Several traffic violations were recorded in the first days of July, including drivers and cyclists under the influence of alcohol. On July 3 in Ventspils, a man driving a Scania truck damaged a road sign by failing to maintain a safe distance during a turn. An administrative process was initiated.
On July 4 in Ventspils, a man driving a Volvo was found with 2.05 permille alcohol, leading to a criminal case. The same day in Dienvidkurzeme region, a woman driving a Volkswagen failed to yield to an Audi on the main road, causing a collision that injured the Audi driver and passenger. Also on July 4, in Saldus region, an underage girl drove a Skoda without a license, and in Ventspils, a man drove a Lexus with 0.53 permille alcohol and no license – both cases resulted in administrative or criminal proceedings.
On July 5 in Talsi region, a man driving a Honda was caught with 1.45 permille (administrative), while in Liepāja, two cyclists were caught with 1.59 and 2.97 permille respectively. Additionally, in Brocēni, a cyclist lost control, fell, and sustained injuries.
