Singer Diona Liepiņa shares her kitchen philosophy: precise measurements aren't her style
Latvian singer Diona Liepiņa says she relies more on intuition than exact measurements when cooking, which sometimes leads to unexpected results.

Latvian singer Diona Liepiņa admits she isn't the type of cook who sticks to precise grams and milliliters in the kitchen. According to her, when preparing food she relies more on intuition, instinct and a sense for what's needed rather than following exact amounts listed in recipes.
Improvising in the kitchen
For more complicated recipes, Diona does follow the instructions so as not to forget any necessary ingredient, but even then exact measurements aren't always observed to the letter. She explains that if she doesn't have a measuring cup or similar tool at home, she simply improvises, deciding for herself how much of each ingredient to add.
This free-spirited approach to cooking doesn't always produce the intended result. The singer reveals that sometimes while preparing dinner, an ingredient or step has gone wrong in ways she hadn't planned, leading to unexpected surprises in the final dish.
Process matters more than precision
Despite occasional mishaps, Diona believes that strictly following a recipe isn't the most important thing when cooking. In her view, the real added value in a dish comes from genuinely enjoying the cooking process itself, rather than rigidly tracking tables and specific measurements. She describes this approach as a kind of secret ingredient that could be called love for the process.
