Expertise ordered for doors after Eastern Hospital employee death

The State Labour Inspectorate (VDI) continues to investigate the accident that resulted in the death of an employee at Riga Eastern Clinical University Hospital (RAKUS). Currently, an expert examination of the doors has been ordered, and further conclusions will be drawn only after receiving the expert opinion, VDI noted.

A criminal case has been initiated under the article of the Criminal Law concerning violation of labor protection rules resulting in death.

According to Latvian Television, the employee was trapped in doors at the Radiology department, where safety systems reportedly failed.

RAKUS previously stated that, citing the General Data Protection Regulation and the privacy rights of the involved person and her family members, it will not provide further information about the incident.
