The European Union has stated that the Trump administration's new tariffs on generic drugs will not affect EU exports. Brussels argues that unbranded medicines are protected by the EU-US trade agreement concluded last year in Turnberry, Scotland.

In the realm of sports, the EU has called for "fair play" after Trump's intervention led to a reversal of a World Cup red card decision. Brussels warns that political influence should not shape sporting decisions. FIFA lifted the ban, allowing US star Folarin Balogun to play against Belgium.

Belgium's sports minister called the decision "incomprehensible" and criticized FIFA's U-turn. FIFA reversed its ban after Trump contacted football chief Gianni Infantino.
