Patrick Bewley, a gay OnlyFans creator who goes by Daddy Patrick, had his X account hijacked in April after clicking a phishing link. The attackers changed the account's handle, avatar, and banner to promote Steve Bannon's War Room, and began posting MAGA propaganda, including pro-Trump messages. Bewley, who started in the adult industry at age 60 and had 132,000 followers, was asked to pay $2,000 in GAT cryptocurrency to regain access. When he refused, the hacker demanded $3,000 from his employer, Ducati Studios Network. After nearly two weeks of negotiations, Bewley's partner stopped engaging, and the account was used to repost extremist Republican content. Bewley reported the hack to X, the police, and the FBI, but X support said they could not verify his ownership. Several other gay OnlyFans creators, including Fabian Quezada (Buck Bronco) and Liam Angell, experienced similar attacks, with hackers posting crypto tweets or demanding payment. Security expert Rachel Tobac warns that such phishing scams may escalate ahead of elections, with cybercriminals using AI to target influential accounts. Bewley has since started a new X account with over 9,000 followers, but notes the setback is like building a sandcastle against the tide.
