The British Grand Prix saw several controversial moments. Following a safety car triggered by Max Verstappen's crash, Ferrari decided to pit both drivers. While Charles Leclerc maintained his lead, Lewis Hamilton lost position to George Russell.

Ferrari boss Frederic Vasseur defended the decision, claiming he was confident the race would restart and Hamilton could overtake Russell on soft tires. However, Hamilton expressed frustration, stating he would not have pitted if he knew he would lose position. He also admitted earlier mistakes, including a false start and incorrect car setup.

The situation echoed the 2021 Abu Dhabi controversy, with Hamilton again on the wrong side of a team decision. This time, staying out would have been the correct choice, as Russell with fresher tires would have struggled to pass. Hamilton avoided a penalty for ignoring yellow flags, as stewards ruled he could not react in time.

The race ended under safety car, drawing criticism for lack of entertainment. FIA mistakenly announced the safety car would pull in, but due to technical rules, it did not. The article suggests mandatory red flags if 90% of the race is completed.

Max Verstappen was pessimistic after the race – his Red Bull suffered a rear wing failure for the second time in two weeks, causing a crash. He called the issue dangerous and said he wanted to go home and forget F1. Expert Alex Brandl noted that such technical glitches would force Verstappen to drive more cautiously, reducing speed.

Kimi Antonelli impressed with his determination despite technical issues and a penalty. Charles Leclerc claimed his first win since Austin 2024, regaining confidence. Franco Colapinto, starting from 19th, scored points and outperformed his teammate.
