To mark Estonia's Day of Restoration of Independence on August 20, the Tallinn city transport company TLT will put the historic Pauliine tram, built in the mid-1960s, back on the streets. The tram will operate on route No. 3 on a free schedule between 16:00 and 18:00.

Kaido Padar, chairman of the board of Tallinna Linnatranspordi AS (TLT), said the company has a good tradition of bringing historic vehicles onto the streets on days that matter to Estonia and Tallinn, and this holiday will be no exception.

Padar noted that over the past 35 years Estonia has gone through significant changes, and public transport has changed along with it. The historic tram briefly brings past decades into the present and lets people see the kind of vehicles Tallinn residents once rode every day, while also offering a shared way to celebrate Estonia's freedom and independence.

About the tram

The Pauliine tram model was built in the mid-1960s, with only 219 units produced worldwide. On August 20 the tram will start its run from the Vana-Lõuna tram depot and operate on route No. 3 on a free schedule from 16:00 to 18:00. Rides will be free for everyone who wants to take part.
