Estonian women's volleyball team secures first European League win

Estonia's women's volleyball team rallied from 0-2 down to beat Latvia 3-2 in Tallinn on Friday, claiming their first victory in the European League.

In a European League match held at the Kalev sports hall in Tallinn on Friday, the Estonian women's volleyball team faced Latvia. Despite losing the first two sets, the Estonian team mounted a comeback to win 3-2 (18:25, 21:25, 25:22, 25:14, 18:16).

Latvia started strongly, taking the first two sets. In the third set, Estonia again found themselves trailing, but at 15-19 they scored four consecutive points to level the score. Although Latvia regained the lead (21-20), Estonia showed character and closed the set 25-22.

The fourth set was dominated by the hosts, who won 25-14. In the decisive fifth set, Estonia started well, but Latvia fought back and came close to victory, squandering two match points. Estonia then earned two match points and sealed the long-awaited win on the second attempt.

Kertu Laak was the top scorer for the hosts with 21 points. The Estonian team had lost their first four matches in the European League. On Sunday, they will face Greece in Tallinn, a team that has won all four of its matches so far.
