The Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers' Association (ICSA), which represents farmers, is calling on the government to provide funding for a new Fallen Animal Scheme in Ireland. The organisation says the cost must not come out of farmers' pockets.

The appeal comes as a dispute over the scheme enters its second week. It involves the Animal Collectors' Association (ACA) and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM).

The source report states only that the dispute remains unresolved and that the ICSA sees public funding as the way forward. It gives no further detail on the causes of the row or the terms of the scheme.
