Kārķi Parish Celebrates 800th Anniversary with Full Program
On August 15, Kārķi will mark its 800-year anniversary with a day-long event including a play, concerts, children's activities, and a dance party.
Kārķi Parish is celebrating its 800th anniversary this year. The festivities will take place on August 15 at the Kārķi Nature Concert Hall. The event begins at 12:00 with a performance of V. Sauleskalns' play "Meldermeitiņa" directed by Imants Strads. From 15:00 to 19:00, children and families can enjoy relay races, creative workshops, and a fair offering local crafts and homemade products. The evening concert program starts at 20:00 with a performance by actors from the Latvian National Theatre, featuring Mārtiņš Egliens, Marija Bērziņa, and musician Ēriks Upenieks. At 22:00, a ceremonial bonfire will be lit, followed by dance performances by the group "Melody". The musical highlight is the concert "Gaismas ceļš" at 22:30, with Kristīne Kalniņa, Edgars Kārklis, and Ēriks Upenieks. At midnight, a special "Midnight Wedding" ceremony will take place, and from 00:30 to 03:30, the celebration continues with a party featuring the band "No pusvārda".
