Potato Pie With Ham and Vegetables: A Recipe for Farmhouse Breakfasts
The Latvian newspaper Latvijas Avīze has published a recipe for a potato pie with carrots, ham, tomatoes and cheese. It is baked in the oven at 180 degrees and served hot.

The recipe section of Praktiski.lv, the lifestyle site of the Latvian newspaper Latvijas Avīze, has published instructions for a potato pie. The outlet presents this hearty bake as a farmhouse-style breakfast. It is made in the oven from ordinary vegetables, eggs and a small amount of ham.
Ingredients
The recipe calls for 10 potatoes, 4 carrots, 3 eggs, 2 tomatoes, one red pepper, 200 millilitres of sweet cream and 50 grams of ham. Salt is added to taste. Butter is also needed to grease the baking dish, along with grated cheese to sprinkle on top.
Method
The potatoes are washed, peeled and grated on a coarse grater, then rinsed with water to get rid of as much starch as possible. The carrots are peeled and grated as well. The eggs are whisked until smooth and seasoned with salt and pepper. The tomatoes are cut into slices and the pepper into small cubes.
The eggs are combined with the potatoes, sweet pepper and carrots. This potato mixture goes into a baking dish greased with butter. Diced ham is spread over the top, followed by grated cheese.
The pie is baked in the oven at 180 degrees for 10–15 minutes. It is then taken out, topped with the tomato slices and covered with the sweet cream. After that it goes back into the oven for another 15 minutes. The finished dish is served hot.
