Scammers hijack two of Ksenia Sobchak's Telegram channels
Scammers broke into two Telegram channels belonging to journalist Ksenia Sobchak's media holding and posted a fake confession with supposed leaked correspondence.
Scammers hacked two Telegram channels belonging to journalist Ksenia Sobchak's media holding. The attack targeted the "Krovavaya Barynya" ("Bloody Lady") channel, which has 1.14 million subscribers, and the "Sobchak" channel with 372,000 subscribers. The hack was reported by another channel within the holding, Ostorozhno Novosti. The holding's representatives stated that posts made after 2 p.m. were not from them and advised users not to click on any links.
After the hack, a post appeared on the "Sobchak" channel purportedly from Sobchak herself, claiming that hackers had published her correspondence from a private channel. The post included attached "fragments" of the correspondence, in which a person posing as Sobchak discussed the holding's editorial policy, including coverage of the fuel crisis and Ukrainian strikes on Russia. The post was later deleted.
Based on screenshots, the hacker group BlackMirror may have been involved in leaking the correspondence. Three hours after the hack, staff at the holding regained access to both channels.
The "Ostorozhno Media" holding, founded by Ksenia Sobchak, includes several projects: the YouTube channel "Ostorozhno: Sobchak," the podcast studio "Ostorozhno: Podcasty!," and a number of Telegram channels, including Ostorozhno Novosti, "Ostorozhno: Moskvichka" (a society column), and Sobchak's personal social media accounts.
