The Kremlin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to contact Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko in the near future to discuss Ukraine's demand to remove retranslators that adjust Russian drone strikes on Ukrainian cities. This was stated Tuesday by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov in response to a question about possible talks.

Peskov noted that Lukashenko has already spoken on this topic and that the conversation would be a good opportunity to discuss this and other issues. Russia views Ukraine's demand as absolutely aggressive, an interference in another country's internal affairs and an encroachment on its sovereignty. However, Peskov expressed confidence that the Belarusian leadership can ensure its sovereignty.

On June 19, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy issued an ultimatum to Lukashenko: remove the retranslators within a week, or Ukraine will do it itself. Zelenskyy stated that Russia is trying to drag Belarus into the war, possibly to conduct an operation against one of the NATO countries.

Earlier, Ukrainian commander with the call sign Brovdi said that the military had already identified 500 targets on Belarusian territory. Lukashenko responded by threatening a strike on a 'very serious' target in Ukraine, but later apologized to Zelenskyy for his harsh words and assured that no military action from Belarus should be expected.
