Kremlin: Date of Trilateral Talks With US and Ukraine Will Depend on Battlefield Situation
Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said the question of consultations between Russia, the US and Ukraine will depend on the situation on the battlefield. He said the date would be set after 4 November.

Yuri Ushakov, a foreign policy aide to the Russian president, has said that consultations between Russia, the United States and Ukraine on negotiations to end Russia's war against Ukraine will "depend on the situation on the battlefield and the general circumstances". His remarks were quoted by the Russian news agency Interfax.
Ushakov claimed a date would be set, but that it would clearly fall after 4 November. He also said the makeup of the Russian delegation would be announced later. According to him, a core group already exists, but the final lineup should be determined in the near future.
The Kremlin official stressed that the contacts are planned "with the participation of representatives of Russia, Ukraine and the US, specifically representatives".
Background
Ushakov had earlier stated that the European side would not take part in the trilateral technical talks between the US, Ukraine and Russia due to take place next month. He also asserted that Russia is ready to resume trilateral talks with the US and Ukraine on ending the war after 4 November.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that after European leaders spoke with the Kremlin chief, there was an impression that Russia is serious about a meeting of negotiating groups in Abu Dhabi. He added that the trilateral meeting of Ukrainian, Russian and US technical teams planned for early November depends on the American side.
Media have reported that Russia may try to use the new round of peace talks to extract concessions from NATO, the North Atlantic military alliance.
